The novel “Fathers and Sons” as a mirror of the I.S.Turgenev’s soul
Abstract. The author supports the idea that in any artistic work we see the writer’s soul. The paper shows how I.S.Turgenev’s soul was reflected in his novel “Fathers and Sons” demonstrating writer’s unique personality in all complexity and contradiction.

Early Letters of N.V.Gogol: problems of textology and commenting.
Based on the materials of the Institute of World Literature
Abstract. The author belongs to the Gogol group in the Institute of World Literature under the guidance of Y.V.Mann, which is working on the preparation of the Complete Academic Collection of Works and Letters by N.V.Gogol in 23 volumes. Author also is an editor of the XIII Volume, which will include Gogol’s correspondence in 1820-1832s. This article is devoted to this Volume.

Scientific publication of the “Quiet Flows the Don”: updating the text and comprehension of the meaning
Abstract. Scientific edition of the M.A.Sholokhov’s novel “Quiet Flows the Don” was prepared on the basis of a critical comparison of the currently known autographs of the work published when the writer was alive. This allowed us to establish the true meaning of many dubious textual situations and eliminate a number of mistakes that were included in the novel starting with the first edition.

Two girls — teenagers — women: Dunyashka Melekhova and Natasha Rostova
Abstract. The article presents the comparative analysis of female characters created by M.A.Sholokhov and L.N.Tolstoy. The methods of revealing their images, the general and individual characteristics, the features of the creative dialogue between the author of the “Quiet Flows the Don” with his great predecessor (Tolstoy), the nature of comprehension of his artistic experience and origins in the creation of the characters of Grigory Melekhov’s sisters are revealed.
